What is Terramycin used for?
Terramycin is a prescription medicine used to treat the symptoms of wide variety of bacterial infections. Terramycin may be used alone or with other medications. Terramycin belongs to a class of drugs called Antibacterial. It is not known if Terramycin is safe and effective in children younger than 8 years of age.
What type of antibiotic is oxytetracycline?
Oxytetracycline is a broad spectrum tetracycline antibiotic with activity against a large number of gram positive and gram negative bacteria. The product acts by interfering with bacterial protein synthesis. The tetracyclines are incompletely and irregularly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract.
When should I take oxytetracycline?
Oxytetracycline tablets should be taken on an empty stomach. This means an hour before food or two hours after food. Do not take the tablets at the same time as food, milk or dairy products, as these can stop the medicine being absorbed into the body properly and make it less effective.
Can human use Terramycin?
It may be administered topically alone, or as an adjunct to systemic therapy. It is effective in infections caused by susceptible strains of staphylococci, streptococci, pneumococci, Hemophilus influenzae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Koch-Weeks bacillus, and Proteus.
Is oxytetracycline safe to take?
