What is FastPath and Interleaved?
When a customer is put on a “Noise Profile” usually their DSL line is changed from FastPath to Interleaved. Interleaving is an error correction protocol that is implemented for your line at the DSLAM.
What is FastPath Internet?
The Kinetics FastPath was a LocalTalk-to-Ethernet bridge (now referred to as a router) created in 1985 to allow Apple Macintosh computers (which at the time only had LocalTalk network connections) to communicate with other computers on Ethernet networks.
What is the difference between interleaved and fast path?
Fast mode means no interleaved mode interlacing. In fact, there is a delay, but it is very small. This feature is useful for real-time traffic, but introduces certain requirements for line quality. Using this feature is not recommended for normal Internet access.
What is interleave mode?
With Interleave mode enabled, the system first performs a standard trace and retrace with the main Feedback controls in effect. The tip moves at half the normal rate in the slow scan direction. An additional trace and retrace are then performed with the Interleave feedback controls enacted.
What is interleaving delay?
Interleave Delay defines the mapping (relative spacing) between subsequent input bytes at the interleave input and their placement in the bit stream at the interleave output.
What is RAM channel interleaving?
When Power Profile is set to Custom, use this option to enable or disable a higher level of memory interleaving. Typically, higher levels of memory interleaving result in maximum performance. However, reducing the level of interleaving can result in power savings.
Why interleaving is not used in ADSL?
Whilst Interleaving on its own may not reduce your maximum sync speed, Forward Error Correction can and does affect your maximum sync rate. With ADSL2/ADSL2+/VDSL error correction is more efficient and carries less overheads (see S=1/2 mode above). The resultant effect is that latency can be reduced from 16ms to 8ms.
How do I enable interleaving?
Enabling or disabling node interleaving
- From the System Utilities screen, select System Configuration > BIOS/Platform Configuration (RBSU) > Memory Options > Node Interleaving.
- Select a setting. Enabled—Memory addresses are interleaved across the memory installed for each processor.
- Save your setting.
Can I mix x8 and x16 RAM?
Yes obviously you can mix it up,but it’s better to have there frequency same so as to have better performance.
Can I use two sets of dual channel RAM?
It’s not necessary to buy in 2 or 4 and you can mix and match sticks but if you do then you won’t be able to use the Dual or Quad channel memory modes. Also, you memory many be down-clocked to a lower frequency. So it’s just best to buy matching sets of 2 or 4.
What is interleave granularity?
The number of bits in x determines the interleaving granularity, i.e. the number of consecutive bytes mapped to a DRAM channel.
