What is ESN fertilizer?
ESN®, or Environmentally Smart Nitrogen, is a slow-release nitrogen fertilizer with an analysis of 44-0-0. Its semi-permeable polymer coating allows water to enter the urea granule and dissolve the nitrogen inside based on temperature and moisture.
How do you calculate fertilizer analysis?
To determine a fertilizer ratio for a recommendation of 1.5 lb of nitrogen, 0.5 lb of phosphate, and 0.5 lb of potash, divide the weight of each of the three nutrients (1.5 lb, 0.5 lb, 0.5 lb) by the nutrient with the lowest weight (0.5 lb). Thus, the fertilizer ratio that best fits this recommendation is 3-1-1.
What does ESN stand for nitrogen?
ESN® (Environmentally Smart Nitrogen) is an enhanced efficiency nitrogen (N) fertilizer produced and distributed by Agrium. It is a polymer-coated, controlled-release urea product (often referred to as PCU or CRU), designed to protect against environmental N losses through leaching, volatilization, and denitrification.
Is ESN good for grass?
Can we use ESN on our grass? ESN is similar to products that are commonly used in turf fertilizers. In fact, the polymer-coating technology used for ESN was originally developed and used in turf and golf courses. However, ESN was designed for agricultural crops and its release timing may not be ideal for lawn grass.
What is Superu fertilizer?
SUPERU™ is a self-contained granular fertilizer also intended to reduce ammonia volatilization and prevent nitrification, thus avoiding losses of ammonia to the air and nitrate to groundwater. It was available for on-farm use by the late 1990s and is made from a base of urea.
How is N-P-K calculated?
To calculate the pounds of nitrogen in a bag of fertilizer, multiply the weight of the bag by the percent nitrogen (this is the first number in the N-P-K designation on the front of the bag). This will tell you the pounds of nitrogen in the bag.
What is a good N-P-K ratio?
Studies have found that the ideal NPK fertilizer ratio of those nutrients for flowering plants is 3-1-2. (That’s 3% Nitrogen, 1% phosphorus & 2% potassium.) So look for that ratio on the label of packaged fertilizers; anything close to a 3-1-2, a 6-2-4 or a 9-3-6 should be ideal.
How long does it take for ESN to release?
about 50 to 70 days
We would typically describe the release of ESN to be about 50 to 70 days, but temperature and moisture can alter the timing of its release. Moisture has little effect on the rate of release as long as there is adequate moisture to maintain the process.
What is super urea?
What is agrotain?
AGROTAIN® is an additive targeted to fertilizers that contain urea. The purpose of AGROTAIN® is to reduce ammonia volatilization after fertilizer application. The active ingredient, NBPT, functions as a urease inhibitor.
How do I use the fertilizer calculator?
This calculator can be used to determine how much nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P 2 O 5 ), and potassium (K 2 O) (in lbs./1000 ft.²) the fertilizer analysis you choose will supply. If your fertilizer recommendations are in lbs/100 sq ft, you will need to divide the result you get by 10.
How much does ESN fertilizer cost?
Please consult your local fertilizer retailer or ESN Marketing Rep. Results based on an ESN premium of $0.16 – $0.20 /lb over urea and $0.15/lb over UAN depending on region, and using recommended percentages of 50 – 80% ESN to urea/UAN in the fertilizer blends for application rates. These examples are recommended use rates.
What is the fertilizer score?
The score represents how well a fertilizer recommendation matches the soil test report recommendation. A perfect score is 100. Points are deducted if the supplied nitrogen is outside 10% of N recommended, if the supplied phosphorus is too high, or if the supplied potassium is too low.
What is the University of Georgia fertilizer calculator?
The University of Georgia Fertilizer Calculator was developed to assist users whose fertilizer needs require adjustment from the standard soil test recommendation due to a change in units, availability of fertilizer products, and/or a difference in land size.
