- On the sidebar, go to Devices and locate the drive you want to eject. Click the eject symbol to the right of the drive name.

What happened to my FreeAgent Desk 1TB HDD?
My Freeagent desk 1TB just suddenly died for no reason. Following the instructions from here, I managed to open the casing without damaginging it, recover the HDD and pull the data and wipe it before putting it altogether and sending to Seagate for RMA. Fortunately it’s still under warranty – so I am waiting for replacement/repair.

The solution for owners of the original Seagate Freeagent is to extract the SATA drive from it and stick it in a Seagate Freeagent Desk. This is what I did (perhaps there was an easier way). As another poster said use a butter knife to pry open the lid, starting in front (on top) by the Seagate Logo. Work your way around and it will open.
