Point Samson fishing spots are mainly focused around the creeks and reefs. Sams Creeks, Cossack and the shallow southern Creeks all hold Threadfin Salmon, Mangrove Jack and Barramundi. There is also plenty of by catch, such as Flathead, Bream, Trevally, Queenfish and Cod.

The Point Samson jetty played an important role in the development of the north west. It replaced the Cossack land backed wharf in c1902-1903 as the main port for ships visiting the area and held a position of importance for many years. It remained significant, being rebuilt in 1936.
