The use of Cadets as part of any policing operation can only be done for those roles which in no way need the skills or powers associated with Police Constables or PCSOs, but would out of necessity be staffed by a Police Officer, Special Constable or PCSO were it not for the use of cadets.

Police Cadets have no special powers. Unlike the previous full-time cadets, they rarely assist the police in actual policing activities, and are never sent to high-risk situations. Once they reach the age of 14, cadets may go out in public with police officers to take part in low-risk policing activities.
Can you join police at 50?
While police departments can set a maximum age limit, most do not. Fitness standards for someone applying in their 40s or 50s are often lower than for a 20-something applicant. However, you’ll still have to meet educational requirements and pass a background check.
