The Olog-hai inhabit everywhere from the Misty Mountains to Mordor, and, unlike their Troll precursors, are not turned to stone by the light of the sun.
What is an Olog in Shadow of War?
Ologs, also known as the Olog-hai or Troll-folk, are a special breed of troll created by Sauron to bolster his armies. They are more intelligent than your average troll, appear much larger than an Uruk or Orc, and have no adverse reactions to sunlight.
Are the Uruk-hai Orcs?
Uruk-hai actually means “orc-folk”, so, for the most part, Uruk-hai are, well, orcs. The term is used sometimes to distinguish the stronger, larger orcs bred by Sauron and later Saruman from the ordinary, run-of-the mill orcs found in the Misty Mountains.

The Olog-hai were a fierce race of Trolls. They only spoke Sauron’s Black Speech, and it is possible they only existed because Sauron’s evil will empowered them. They were bred by Sauron from an unknown stock, though it’s suggested that they could be corruptions of some primitive human types.

The Olog-hai that appear in this (non-canon) game have certain similarities to the trolls that appear in both the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings film adaptations.
