A worn follower itself will have no symptoms as everything can still operate as normal. You can have a hole punched straight through it and still everything may operate as normal. stupid question… but then why replace it if it doesn’t cause problems? Can a worn cam follower cause fuel cuts?
I have read that a worn cam follower will lead to fuel cuts under heavy load/acceleration. There are lots of threads on this if you search, and there is also a decent DIY check your follower thread on here or on vortex. From what I remember its a fairly easy. There is also a TSB out on all 06-07 GTIs with BPY engines, all VIN #’s.
What’s wrong with my Cam intake?
The Cam intake appears to be worn at the end and the part above that (not sure what the part is) has been scored. There is also damage to the fuel pump as the small bolt looking part at the end has come off and caused damage inside to the cam chain cover and the fuel line inside it.
