Today we bake some of the nation’s favourite bakery products: top ten grocery brand Kingsmill, as well as Allinson’s, Bürgen and Sunblest. We still work closely with Allied Mills who, from their sites in Tilbury, Manchester and Belfast, mill all the flour that we use in our bread and bakery goods.
What happened Sunblest bakeries?
Sunblest is currently owned by Associated British Foods plc, and ABF became the name of Allied Bakeries Ltd in 1960, just before the introduction of the Chorleywood process.
What bread do Allied Bakeries make?

PEP acquired Allied from GrainCorp and Cargill for an undisclosed price. Allied Mills will now be integrated into PEP’s Pinnacle Bakery and Integrated Ingredients business which is based in Western Sydney.
Can you still get Mothers Pride bread?
Mothers Pride® is now a sub-brand of Hovis® but still a traditional family brand, known principally for Mothers Pride® Scottish Batch. The Mothers Pride® range also includes white and brown bread, plus a selection of morning goods.
What happened Tesco bread?
Tesco is to cut more than 1,800 jobs as it overhauls its in-store bakeries and prepares more bread off-site. From May Tesco will stop baking bread from scratch in 58 stores with products prepared elsewhere. In 201 stores, only the most popular products will continue to be baked from scratch on the premises.
Could Allied Bakeries in Milton be made redundant?
A BAKERY firm with a site in Glasgow has revealed that workers may be made redundant. As many as 70 employees at Allied Bakeries in Milton may lose their job due to proposed manufactured changes at the Glentanar Road factory. The firm says the changes could be made to improve their “efficiency”.
