Can you tell difference between HDMI ARC and optical?
HDMI ARC and optical cables both share the same purpose. The only significant difference in terms of function is that an optical cable won’t transmit video.
Do I need HDMI ARC and optical at the same time?
In case you do connect both cables, they will automatically switch to the one you inserted last. Other TVs will allow you to choose which audio cable you want to use if you have both of them plugged in. But they still won’t let you use both at the same time.
Can you use the HDMI ARC for a Blu-Ray player?
To connect your Blu-ray Player using HDMI (ARC): Note: Simplink will need to be enabled for ARC to function. Make sure both the Blu-ray Player and the TV are powered On. Connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI (ARC) output on your TV (usually HDMI 1), to the HDMI input slot on the Blu-ray Player.
Does HDMI ARC support 4K video?
It’s worth noting ARC doesn’t allow you to bitstream the full-fat high-quality codecs such as Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD Master Audio or DTS:X soundtracks that you find on Blu-rays and 4K Blu-rays. It simply strips out the core 5.1 data stream. If you want this level of functionality, you’ll need HDMI eARC.
Does HDMI ARC need a special cable?
Using HDMI ARC does not require a new HDMI cable. Any HDMI cable should be able to cope with the requirements – it’s only when we move on to eARC this could (potentially) become an issue. But more on that later.
Does HDMI ARC have lag?
In general, HDMI ARC can cause audio delay. They are designed for specific purposes and do not interact well with every Audio Processor. If you connect your soundbar speaker to a TV with HDMI ARC connection you may experience a slight delay in the speaker’s audio output.
Do I need both HDMI and optical cable for soundbar?
In case your television or soundbar doesn’t include an HDMI port, you need an optical cable. You can recognize the optical input on your television by the text ‘DIGITAL AUDIO OUT.
Does Sony Bravia have HDMI ARC?
For some BRAVIA models and any other TV that has an HDMI IN terminal that does not support ARC, use an HDMI cable (sold separately) to connect the HDMI IN terminal on the TV to the TV OUT (ARC) terminal on the Sound Bar.
