How does the STOWA Flieger Klassik compare to the Luftwaffe?
The Stowa Flieger Klassik comes in a 40mm stainless steel case — a far cry from the 55mm Flieger watches worn by the Luftwaffe, but a whole lot more wearable day-to-day. That said, despite the more reasonable size, the watch has plenty of wrist presence due to the small bezel and 48.6mm lugs.

This flieger is Stowa’s classic 40mm pilot’s watch — a more wearable version of the classic large pilot’s watch. It features the original spec black dial, which is highly legible thanks to the contrasting white markings throughout.
Are Stowa watches any good?
I’ve been a huge fan of Stowa since, well, 2013 or so. Relatively affordable, customizable, highly refined fliegers are among the best casual watches ever IMO. In my opinion, Stowa offer sweet spot between cheaper fliegers such as Junkers / Laco / Archimede / etc, and “higher end” luxury fliegers from IWC or Glashutte.
How much does a Flieger watch cost?
Stowa’s Flieger 40 also features slightly curvier lugs than the original Flieger watches, giving it a more modern appearance. At just over $1,000, this watch represents a solid value from one of the original Flieger watch manufactures. Adding some functionality to the classic Flieger design is the Flieger Classic Chrono from Stowa.
