What is DEXRON IID?
Motul Dexron IID is a mineral automatic transmission fluid suitable automatic gearbox applications as well as power steering systems, torque converters and hydraulic systems.
What is compatible with DEXRON?
GM considers Dexron VI to be “backward compatible,” meaning GM recommends it for use in any vehicle that originally used any earlier version of Dexron and that it can be mixed with them. However, GM specifically recommends against using Dexron VI in non-GM made vehicles that used Dexron III as original equipment.
What is DEXRON motor oil?
Mobil DEXRON-VI ATF is a high performance, synthetic blend formulation that meets or exceeds the stringent requirements of GM’s DEXRON-VI specification and provides warranty protection for 2006 and newer GM vehicles. What replaced DEXRON?
Dexron VI
Dexron VI replaced Dexron II and III, and can be used in General Motors domestically built or import transmissions that specified Dexron II or Dexron III. Dexron VI is a low viscosity transmission fluid and should also be used with the full synthetic low viscosity transmission fluid.
Can I use DEXRON 4 instead 2?
ATF IV and Dexron II are different enough I’d suggest against using it, however all Dexron fluids are backwards compatible, so you could use Dexron III or Dexron VI. If you can get Dexron III you can mix it with the exiting Dexron II in your power steering reservoir without issue.
Can you mix DEXRON III and dexron VI?
DEXRON-VI can be used in any proportion in past model vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, in place of DEXRON-III (for instance, topping off the fluid in the event of a repair or fluid change). DEXRON-VI is also compatible with any former version of DEXRON for use in automatic transmissions.
Can you mix DEXRON and Mercon?
Dexron II was introduced in 1987 and Mercon was introduced in 1987. In addition, it cannot be mixed with earlier Mercon fluids, so it should not be mixed with Mercon or Mercon V. There is no compatibility with any other fluid either.
Who makes DEXRON oil?
Dexron LV ATF LV is made by Mobil and is marketed as Mobil-1 LV ATF HP.
Is DEXRON and mercon the same?
Dexron III is a General Motors trademark for qualified automatic transmission fluids. Mercon covers all automatic transmissions for Ford model year 1988 and after. LUBRIPLATE Dexron III/Mercon is designated as make-up and/or refill fluids to meet respective car warranties.
Is DEXRON VI better than DEXRON III?
Dexron VI is a lot more stable at higher temperatures and lasts longer. It can also be used to top off dexron 3, however, you can’t use dexron 3 if you already have dexron 6 originally in your trans, or if it has been flushed with dexron 6.
