Do you tip a dive master?
In the scuba world, most tips are reserved for a boat’s DiveMaster and crew. On boat dives, each diver will tip the crew $10 per tank. Tips are important in the dive world for multiple reasons. So if you’re in Florida or Mexico, on a “two-tank boat dive”, at the end of the dive, you would tip $20.
Do you tip your dive instructor?
As diving is a service industry, it is customary to tip your instructor, guide, and/or crew. Some operators will even have a tip jar in the shop or on the boat. However, it is not mandatory to tip. If you received poor service or weren’t happy with the service or trip, don’t feel obligated to tip.
When can you dive in the Bahamas?
Diving in the Bahamas changes little from month to month. In addition to great topside conditions, November to May is also the best time for shark diving. Tiger sharks are present from October to January at Tiger Beach, and you’ll find hammerhead sharks at Bimini from December-March.
How do you pack for a dive trip?

Place sensitive dive gear like your regulator and dive computer in a carry-on along with your laptop, some items of clothing, swimsuit, essential toiletries and medications, and pack a larger checked bag with heavy gear as well as bulky clothing items.

15% to 20% of the charter boat dive rate is customary. If your charter boat dive trip was $50 for a two-tank dive, a respectable tip would be anywhere between $8 and $10. If the crew was outstanding, give a bit more.

If you book a snorkeling tour or sunset sail, you’ll probably want to tip about $10-$20 depending on the length of the tip. Usually, you can just give it to whoever is saying goodbye to guests at the end of the tour.

The liveaboards in the Bahamas generally run for a 8 days/7nights period with the price starting from $US300 a day, however, please note this excludes gear rental, which if needed will be $US175 per 7 day trip, or Nitrox, which starts from $US100 per trip. Diving/Trip insurance is highly recommended for all passengers.
