When the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge opened on July 16, 2005, it became the longest cable-stayed bridge of its time in North America and the tallest structure in South Carolina. In 2015, we joined the community of Charleston to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of this landmark bridge.
Can you walk across the Ravenel Bridge?
The Ravenel Bridge walking path is 2.5 miles long , making it a five-mile round trip. Of course, that doesn’t mean you have to trek across the whole thing. Many visitors stop at the halfway point of the bridge, about 1.2 miles up, and turn back. Either way, you’ll enjoy a scenic route over Charleston Harbor.
