How many Smash Up combinations are there?

There are 28 possible Smash Up combinations, (7+6+5+4+3+2+1=28). There are 15 possible (5+4+3+2+1=15) opposing combinations, for 420 possible 2-Player match-ups. An additional 6 times, or 2520 possible 3/4-Player starting combinations are left with the remaining 4 unchosen factions.

What happens if you tie in Smash Up?

Each player loses 1 VP for every two Madness cards. The player who has the most VPs left after this is the winner. In case of a tie, victory goes the tied player with the fewest Madness cards. If there’s still a tie, all tied players share the victory.

Madness cards are all actions. So you can play one by spending one of your action plays, either your free action play, or an extra action play. When you play a Madness card, you have a choice between two abilities: either drawing two cards from your deck, or returning the Madness card you played to the Madness deck.
