During the follicular phase of the cycle, BBT stays in the lower range, generally between 97 and 98 degrees Fahrenheit (36.1 to 36.6 degrees Celsius) until approximately one day before ovulation, when BBT reaches its lowest point. After ovulation, the corpus luteum begins to secrete progesterone.
How long before ovulation does BBT rise?
It can take up to three days after ovulation for the temperature to rise. However, in our experience most women experience temperature rises on the same day or a day later than when an ovulation predictor kit turns positive.
How do you know when your ovulating with BBT?
- Take your temperature first thing in the morning. Use a digital BBT thermometer to take your temperature as soon as you wake up.
