Does OPC use DCOM?
OPC clients and servers use COM to communicate with each other over the same machine and use DCOM to communicate directly with each other across a network.

To manually enable (or disable) DCOM for a computer
- Run Dcomcnfg.exe.
- Choose the Default Properties tab.
- Select (or clear) the Enable Distributed COMÂ on this Computer check box.
- If you will be setting more properties for the computer, click the Apply button to enable (or disable) DCOM.
