Snowfall lasts between December and April here with heavy night time snow quite common. The northern faces of the higher peaks can be quite deep and offer great ski runs. The weather in Bansko in December is perfect for early winter skiing, with an average daytime high temperature of 5°C.
When was Bansko gondola built?
It was built in the late 4th or early 5th century, probably on an earlier Thracian structure, with a necropolis with over 150 graves around it.

What’s Bansko like for skiing?
The ski area is quite limited, with around 70km of pistes, enough to satisfy first-timers and intermediate skiers and snowboarders who are more focused on an enjoyable and affordable holiday in un-intimidating surroundings, than on munching the miles.
How long does the gondola take in Bansko?
Some say it takes only for reaching the gondola 45 minutes, some say minimum an hour and other approximately 2 hours, plus half an hour to reach the top at 2500m. Being a vacation, I will not get up at 7 and skip breakfast just to be at the Gondola at 8:10 to avoid the large queue.
