What kind of interfacing do you use for a quilt?
For t-shirt quilting, we recommend using a lightweight fusible interfacing such as Pellon Shape-Flex® (woven) or Therm-o-Web Heat’n Bond (non-woven). If you find a different brand at your fabric store, just make sure it is light weight and won’t stretch out of shape, and you’ll be good to go.

For areas that require extra rigidity, use 2 layers. It is completely sewing machine safe and won’t gum up your needle.

Pellon® PLF36 Fusible Interfacing is an ultra lightweight interfacing for light to medium-weight fabrics. It is great for wovens, knits, blouses, and sheer garments. It is excellent for use with crepe de chine, voile, and handkerchief linen fabrics. It can also be used for stabilization of quilting projects.

Pellon® 420 Fashion Fuse™ Fusible Leather Backing is a lightweight, nonwoven, fusible interfacing that fuses at a low to medium temperature, making it ideal for use with natural and imitation leather and furs.
What is the stiffest interfacing?
As the stiffest interfacing, heavyweight interfacing gives hat brims and bag bottoms their stability. It comes in one-sided or two-sided fusible variations, or without fusible (look for “sew in” on the packaging).

Pellon® 809 Décor-Bond® is a firm, nonwoven, fusible stabilizer that provides extra crispness and support. It is fantastic for use in placemats, director chairs, lamp shades, and drapery headers. For areas that require extra rigidity, use 2 layers.
Is Pellon washable?
They have little or no shrinkage & will not ravel. They can be washed or dry-cleaned. Other types of Pellon® interfacings are woven, knitted or weft-inserted.
