Why is everyone in Castle Volkihar attacked?

If you side with the Volkihar and do the bloodstone chalice quest, you are attacked by two named vampires after finishing the quest. If you attack these vampires before they turn hostile (i.e before they finish talking to get the upper hand in the fight) it will cause the rest of the Volkihar clan to become hostile.

Should I refuse Harkon?

Eventually, Lord Harkon will present you with the opportunity to become a vampire. If you accept the offer, Harkon will bite you, which causes you to pass out. If you refuse the offer to become a vampire, you will be banished from Castle Volkihar and won’t be able to enter back inside.

Why is dawnguard attacking me?

Banishment If you become a member of the Volkihar Vampire Clan by accepting Harkon’s offer, you will be labeled an enemy of the Dawnguard. You will not be able to use any of the Dawnguard’s services and will be attacked on sight by members even if you choose to cure your vampirism.

Why do the vampires keep attacking me?

If you’re talking about random vampires, they’re just going to be aggressive to you. You’re a hostile intruder that’s competing with them for blood, and to be honest, most of them are probably hunger-addled and not thinking clearly anyways. Again, talking about a possible bug.

Should I trap my soul or become a vampire?

The best thing is to NOT become a Vampire Lord at this point in time, if playing as a Dawnguard. You will still be able to talk to Serana and have her make you a vampire lord later in the game, so it’s best to wait until you have finished all the Dawnguard sidequests. So for now, you should opt to become Soul Trapped.

Can I join the Dawnguard if I’m a vampire?

You can’t become apart of the Dawnguard if you’re currently a vampire.

Can I join Dawnguard after curing vampirism?

Yes. After completing Bloodline, you have to not be a vampire to side with the Dawnguard. If you turn into a vampire after siding with the Dawnguard, they may turn hostile towards you.
