Do you have to wet the Chemex filter?
A | While this is not a required step in the brewing process, some people do wish to pre-wet the filter. One may do this to rinse away and remaining paper fibers as well as heat the carafe. Be sure to dump out the water before beginning to brew the coffee.

To brew two large cups of Chemex coffee, the amount of coffee you’ll want to use is approximately 34 grams of coffee grounds (or coffee beans) and 510 grams of water (that’s 17.2 oz of water). Like we discussed above, we’re getting that amount using the default 1:15 ratio.

- Remove the handle from your Chemex.
- Use a brush or sponge to scrub the outside of the carafe.
- Pour 50:50 warm water and vinegar into the carafe and fill it totally.

How do you make Chemex coffee stronger?
Add 2.5 tablespoons of coffee for every 6 ounces of water used. So for 20 ounces of water, use between 6-8 tablespoons. The more coffee you use, the stronger it will be.
