Classification. Cash Cab is a loose adaptation of a television quiz game. The players choose a destination on the gameboard which represents Manhattan. As the players’ “cab” moves towards the destination, the players answer trivia questions to win money.
How does Cash Cab Canada work?
While winning contestants are shown receiving actual cash in their game—it is a show called Cash Cab, after all—it doesn’t really work like that, for legal reasons. Contestants don’t get to keep cash. The money used on the show is a prop, and it’s returned to the production assistant immediately after the game is over.

According to previous contestants, members of Cash Cab’s production team would come up to people on the street and say they worked for a fictional show, Show Me New York, that involved people talking about their favorite New York City landmarks.
