Is Eumovate a strong steroid?
Water miscible cream. Eumovate Cream is a moderately potent topical corticosteroid indicated for adults, elderly, children and infants for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of steroid responsive dermatoses.
What is Eumovate ointment good for?
Eumovate Eczema & Dermatitis Cream is suitable for the short-term treatment and control of patches of eczema and dermatitis including atopic eczema and primary irritant and allergic dermatitis. This product is suitable for use in adults and children aged 12 years or older.
How quickly does Eumovate work?
Apply a thin film and gently rub in, using only enough to cover the affected area twice daily for up to 7 days. If the condition resolves within 7 days, treatment with Eumovate cream should be stopped. If the condition does not improve within the first 7 days or becomes worse, the patient should see a doctor.
What are the side effects of Eumovate?
Like all medicines, Eumovate can have side effects, but not everybody gets them. Stop using and tell your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following: an allergic reaction such as skin rashes, redness, itching, local skin burning and skin infection • if your condition gets worse during treatment.
Which cream is stronger betnovate or Eumovate?
Secondly, emphasise that all steroids are not of the same potency: clobetasone (Eumovate) is five times more potent than hydrocortisone and betamethasone (Betnovate) is five times more potent than clobetasone, and clobetasol (Dermovate) is more potent again.
How long should I use Eumovate for?
Only use EUMOVATE Cream for as long as your doctor recommends. This medicine should not be used every day for more than 4 weeks at a time. Using corticosteroids on the skin continuously over many weeks or months can cause skin thinning and permanent skin damage.
Does Eumovate stop itching?
Eumovate Cream is one of a group of medicines called topical steroids. “Topical” means they are put on the skin. Topical steroids reduce the redness and itchiness of certain skin problems. (They should not be confused with “anabolic” steroids misused by some body builders and taken as tablets or injections).
Can Eumovate be used on the vagina?
Generally, we recommend using the weakest cream which reduces symptoms. In the vulval clinic we often start with the weakest (Hydrocortisone) and then change, if symptoms persist to Locoid, Eumovate or Betnovate. In severe cases we use Dermovate. The ointment should be used twice a day, morning and night.
