How many days do you need at Kings Canyon?
You could spend anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks in Sequoia and Kings Canyon depending on the amount of hiking you would want to do. It is really a hiking park. You should for sure walk Congress Trail and see the General Sherman tree. Allow a couple of hours for this.

The major roads are sealed, however alternative routes require 4 wheel drives. To and from Alice Springs to Kings Canyon – five and a half (5 1/2) hours on the unsealed Mereenie Loop Road (which requires a permit) or Ernest Giles Road (4 wheel drive recommended) or five (5) hours on the sealed Stuart/Lasseter Highway.
How long is the Mereenie Loop road?
If you do the full loop from Alice Springs return via the West Macs, Palm Valley, Kings Canyon and Uluru/Kata Tjuta you’ll cover roughly 1330km of which only around 150km is dirt. If, however, you want to cover all those same areas and return to Alice Springs without any dirt roads, you’ll cover more like 1700km.
Can you drive through Kings Canyon National Park?
