What is WRC 297?
Published in August of 1984, Welding Research Council (WRC) 297 attempts to extend the existing analysis tools for the evaluation of stresses in cylinder-to-cylinder intersections. WRC 297 differs from the widely-used WRC 107 primarily in that WRC 297 is designed for larger d/D ratios (up to 0.5).
What is wrc107?
WRC-107 consists of many curves enabling engineers to calculate all types of local stresses caused by external loads exerting on a circular or rectangular nozzle on shell elements. The nozzle is assumed to be penetrated to a cylindrical or spherical shell.
When to use WRC 107 and 297?
1. WRC 107 calculates only the vessel stresses while WRC 297 calculates Vessel stresses along with nozzle stresses. 2. WRC 297 is applicable only for normally (perpendicular) intersecting two cylindrical shells whereas WRC 107 is applicable for cylindrical as well as spherical shells of any intersection.
What is piping WRC?
What is WRC? WRC or Welding Research Council is a Scientific Research Corporation, involved in solving problems related to welding and pressure vessel technology. To date, they have published more… link to Equipment Nozzle Loads of Equipment and means for reducing them (With PDF)
What is the difference between WRC 107 and 537?
The contents of both WRC 107 and WRC 537 are same but the later one is in more useful and clear format. Compress and PV Elite, both use the newer version of the Bulletin, WRC 537. Both these programs are able to calculate the local stresses with higher accuracy.
What is WRC Bulletin?
WRC publications – records of important progress in welding and pressure vessel research – are applications oriented and provide specific recommendations based on validated technology.
How much horsepower do WRC cars have?
Rally cars used in WRC are capable of up to 380 HP, or 280 kW, of power. They do this at around 6,000 RPM, with maximum torque estimated to be around 450 Nm, but certainly more than 425 Nm. However, they are limited to these numbers, mostly for safety and cost reasons, through the use of air restrictors.
How fast do WRC cars accelerate?
Rallycross A rallycross car is an out-and-out sprinter. Everything – the engine, the differential, the tyres, the tyre pressures – is optimized for maximum acceleration and all-surface grip so it can compete in short bursts over a small course. It accelerates from 0 to 100kph in less than two seconds, generating 1.4G.
What is the WRC 297 stress equation?
WRC 297 provides tables to transform these loads edge forces and moments on the vessel shell Eq. (1-4). Each WRC 297 stress equation contains two terms for each of the above three piping loads components. The first term in the stress equation is for membrane stress and the second term is for bending stress.
What is the purpose of the WRC 297?
WRC 297 is a very important bulletin for piping design engineers. It provides formulas for calculating stresses at a cylindrical vessel to a radially outward pipe nozzle connections. Why is the proper evaluation of a nozzle-vessel interaction so important?
What is the difference between WRC 537 and WRC 297?
In WRC 537 code all functions are digitized instead of represented in graphical form as in WRC 107. Formally it is the same code. On the other hand, the WRC 297 code provides the method to check the local stresses in the nozzle-to-shell junction point. The method for head calculation is not provided.
Should WRC bulletins 107 and 297 be considered as one document?
WRC 537 authors recommend to work with WRC 537 and 297 as a single document “WRC Bulletins 107 and 297 should be considered (and purchased) as an integral set. In addition, PVRC Technical Committees are working on a project that is envisioned to culminate in a new publication to add to the WRC Bulletin 107 and 297 set.
