Can you live with your family in the Air Force?
When you’re in the Air Force, you’re a part of a community that’s a lot like civilian communities everywhere around the country. In fact, Air Force bases are basically self-contained cities with everything you need to live and raise your family.
How long are you away from your family in the Air Force?
The length of an Air Force deployment ranges from four to 12 months depending on an Airman’s specific job, location and mission requirements. While deployments are an opportunity for your child to represent our country overseas, we understand it’s difficult to see a loved one go so far away.
How often do Air Force members come home?
Airman earn 2.5 days of leave each month for a total of 30 paid leave days per year. Leave not taken in a year is carried over into the next fiscal year but only a maximum of 75 leave days is allowed to be on the books. There are many opportunities for Airman to take leave throughout their career in the Air Force.
What is daily life like in the Air Force?
Life in the Air Force requires hard work, but also allows time for your own pursuits. Typically, you can expect an eight-hour workday, leaving plenty of time to relax, recharge and do other things you enjoy once you change out of uniform. Airmen get 30 days vacation with pay each year to use at their discretion.
Can your wife live on base with you?
As long as you are still married, to give up BAH, you would have to reside in on-base family housing. However, unless your dependents move to your duty location, you are not authorized to reside in on-base family housing, because the rules say to qualify, your dependents must be living with you.
Will the Air Force pay for my wife to move?

Does the Air Force offer bereavement leave?

Do you get Christmas off in the Air Force?
With the major holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving, you will be typically given two days off, with either the day off before or after other holidays. This will be depended on the local commander. Smaller holidays like Veterans day will normally only require one day off.
Do you have your own room in the Air Force?
