Who qualifies Austudy?
On the day you claim Austudy you must be an Australian resident and in Australia. You must study an approved course at an approved education provider to get Youth Allowance, Austudy, or Pensioner Education Supplement. Most people need to study full time to get Austudy or Youth Allowance as a student.
Can I get Austudy if I have savings?
If they have money sitting in a bank account or liquid assets equal or exceed $5,500 for a single or $11,000 for a couple or single with dependants, this will affect the Austudy payment.
